Peanut Circuit

As part of Norwegian Sculpture Biennale, Danger Museum and Arve Rød collaborate on the project Peanut Circuit. The opportunity for Danger Musuem to exhibit in a unique venue such as thr Vigeland Museum inspired us to develop a project that is looking at the cultrual production in different times. Both the early to mid 20th Century and the contemporary practices, especially from 90's and upto now.

Downloadable diaries are available for you to follow our research days, interviews with artists, visiting of places and so on.

Please read the press release for more details.

The international art collective Danger Musuem has been running since 1998. Recent projects include The Danger Museum (inIVA, London), Internet programming for Walker Arts Center How Latitudes Become Forms, and Oslo Open (open studio event in Oslo).

The Vigeland Museum project has developed for apprx. 5 months through discussions between DM directors Øyvind Renberg and Miho Shimizu
and the artist Arve Rød.

Facts:

Norwegian Sculpture Biennale: This year is the third of its kind, run by the Norwegian Sculpture Association, Norsk billedhoggerforening (NBF), with an open submission for artists, inviting international curators. The 2003 curator is Dorthe Abligaard from the DCA, Denmark.
Although it is named "Sculpture Biennale", many of the works are not based around traditional or skill based sculpture. The biennale held both st the Vigeland Museum and at the Haugar Vestfold kunstforening outside Oslo. Several of the artists showing at the Vigeland Museum produce site-specific pieces in response to this historical art museum.

Gustav Vigeland: Vigeland (1869-1943) produced numerous public / private commissions through out his life. Considered a genius at his time, he convinced the municipaly of Oslo to build the 80 achre "Vigeland Park" dedicated to his sculptures, and a studio turned museum after his death, in exchange of the ownership of his works. Today the park is the city's main tourist spot, with thousands of visitrs from all over the world. The Vigeland Museum is located beside the park, with introductions, sketches and unique works of his works in iron, clay and plaster.
